Your goal is to demonstrate the use of Scratch IF STATEMENTS and/or LOOPs by creating a Choose Your Own Adventure type game. There are example files listed lower down on this page.
Save your file as ScratchAdventureYOURNAME.
Minimum Requirements
Game Design
Save your file as ScratchAdventureYOURNAME.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 4 sprites, one of which must be drawn or created by you. (‘Created’ could include using an existing picture off the web,
deleting its background and altering it at least a bit.) - At least 3 separate backgrounds/scenes
- At least 2 variables that determine the success or failure of the person playing the game. Ideas for variables:
- Give the user some money and they can use it to buy things they need in the game
- Ask the user his/her name and store it for using again and again throughout the game.
- Keep track of how many treasures they have found
- Use a hasKey to determine whether or not a door can be opened.
- Use a hasSword to determine whether or not an enemy can be defeated
- The use of at least 4 IF or other similar statements to branch the game
- User interaction consisting of at least two of the sprites.
- Keyboard entry (The user is asked a question)
- Key presses (arrow keys, etc.)
- Mouse events (clicking on an object, for example)
Game Design
- Your game must be written in the FIRST PERSON. This means that YOU are not seen on the screen.
- The user should have a minimum of 2 choices in your game, regardless of which choices the user makes AND there must be at least one stream where you make 4 choices.
- You may want to use the “classic game structure” which we will discuss in class.
