Introduction Without a doubt, the easiest thing to shoot at our school is portraits. They are everywhere. There are old ones, young ones, round ones, brown ones, hairy ones, and skinny ones. No two are the same. And that’s awesome.
Your project is to shoot and submit a gallery of 15 images (faces). The only real requirement besides the 15 pictures is ensuring that you have not submitted the same face twice. Teachers, custodians, students, etc are all fair game – anyone who is part of the Notre Dame experience.

I have provided the following as examples of better-than-average work. At this point of your knowledge and understanding, these are examples of what I am expecting from you.

Expectations Students will:
- submit 15 portrait pictures
- all 15 pictures must be of students and/or staff of Notre Dame
- use the compositional rules
- you need to upload your face photos (re-sized long edge 2048px) to your webpage.
- e-mail me when you have completed the above tasks to let me know that they are ready to be marked.
- Exposure 50%. Are the images properly exposed? Are any under or overexposed? More importantly, if there are, was it intentional?
- Composition 50%. Are there lots of distracting elements? Do you “make” the photo or take it? Are you using the rule of thirds and fill the frame principles to your advantage?
