Everyone loves this project.
The results are stunning and the process is quite simple. And the best part is that no two shots every look remotely similar. Check out this gallery, and this one, of amazing water drops.
Shooting water drops does require a basic understanding of shooting with off-camera flash and the manual mode in the camera and flash. The hardest part is constructing the setup and evening out the exposure. There will be some post-processing of the images in Photoshop but we’ll forget about that for the moment and try our best to get everything right in the camera the first time.

Required
- Watch the video and visit the link below.
- Create a folder titled, “waterdrops”
- Create another folder and call it, “backgrounds”. Place all of the colored backgrounds you want to have printed in this folder.
- Create a weebly page titled, “Water Drops” and place it in your webpage. Ensure that all group members are listed at the top of the document.
- Using the resources provided, create lists for the materials needed and some of the suggested settings and considerations that you need to make note of.
- Shoot. A lot. You will be required to only submit ten water drop images, but I am expecting you to take over a 100 images during the course of the project. The more you shoot, the better the results you’ll receive.
- Upload the top 10 photos onto your webpage.
- There should be VARIETY here. I want at least 4 different “types” of water drops. I’ll show you what I mean.
