INTRODUCTION Now that we’ve learned about the introductory composition techniques (ROT & FTF) it’s time to put them to practice. With a partner shoot a series of exposures where the subject is the emphasis and the school is the background. Try to shoot a variety of angles and distances – I don’t want five of the same shot. Use the gallery above for exemplars of this.
THINGS TO REMEMBER/QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:
THINGS TO REMEMBER/QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:
- Use the center point for autofocusing
- Shoot in A/V mode but only shoot between apertures of f/1.8 and f/11
- ISO 100
- RAW file format
- where’s the horizon line?
- is the subject looking towards the open part of the frame?
- where’s the sun?
- students need to shoot a series of compositions with a person as the emphasis and the school as the background
- students should use the two introductory composition techniques (the rule of the thirds & fill the frame) when creating their exposures
- students will submit their best five images to your webpage, with a write up on each photo.
